The Knights support our scouting program, SJV School, vocations, pro-life, and Keep Christ in Christmas. They are open to supporting and to helping individuals and groups within the parish, especially the youth. Their calendar is interesting and varied and includes breakfasts, bingo, potluck dinners, and many other social events.
he SJV Knights of Columbus Council, council 8201, was chartered on Columbus Day 1982. They are a part of the organization's 1.6 million plus members worldwide. The Knights are a viable part of parish life, promoting faith, fellowship, and parish projects which are family and parish oriented.
Any practicing Catholic male at least 18 years of age is welcome to join the Knights of Columbus. Council 8201 meets on the second Tuesday of the month at 7:30 p.m. in the school library. Officers of the Council meet on the first Tuesday each month.
Greetings,
It has been a great honor and experience serving as Grand Knight this 2018-2019 fraternal year. I am looking forward to the 2019-2020 fraternal year with eyes wide open to new ideas, new ways and means serving Parish and Community. 2018-2019 was a good year, thanks to all the Officers, Program Directors and Council members who volunteered countless hours of service benefitting St. John Vianney Parish, School and Community. Thank you for your service, well done!!!
Brother Knights, I want to have a great second year as GK and I am asking for your help as humbly as I know how. We need you!!! Each and every Knight who committed to the Brotherhood, please be part of our monthly meetings. For the Council Members who haven’t had the opportunity to take an officer’s position or program Chairman, please come to the July Meeting. It’s a great start to the fraternal year! We could position our- selves to become State contenders in a lot of the worthy programs that Knights of Columbus sponsor, in addition to the large impact we have in our community. So please let this be the year you make a difference in our Council.
The Council is in need to fill the position of “Recorder.” The Recorder responsibilities are: keeping and maintaining a true and permanent record of all actions of the council (aka Council Meeting Minutes); maintains all correspondence of the Council; reads the bills entered into the minutes for discussion. This is a required officer position and needs our attention.
In addition, we are needing a Program Chairman, as well as a Community Director- Our Community activities show that we do not exist as just Catholics unto ourselves, but extend our Parish into the Community in which we live. We Evangelize by example! Other program chairs needing to be filled include Family Director and Faith Director. Our July 2nd meeting at 7:00 is a perfect time to get started as a program director.
In closing, I want to thank all my Brother Knights for your support and guidance through my first year as Grand Knight. My commitment with the 2019-2020 fraternal year is to grow our Council in Faith and Works that please Our Lord Jesus Christ, to support Father Kevin and the Parish, and be worthy Knights of Columbus. Have a blessed day!
Vivat Jesu!
